Indie artists, especially over the last few years, have been able to sell their songs for increasingly famous commercials.  This keeps the sellout debate ongoing, and obviously gets these relatively small artists much more exposure.  It's a good thing, it's a bad thing, it doesn't matter.  Here are a few examples of current and recent ads that feature indie artists, with Youtube clips embedded:
