Electronica takes on a very different form live, when you’re no longer listening to it in your bedroom or da club. Some EDM artists go overboard with the dance-spectacular (especially if they’re just glorified ‘press play, collect check’ DJs…), while chillwave auteurs seem to like to play in complete darkness. But doing the electronics right in the wide open is France’s Air, who come to America this June.

One of the most important electronic acts in the last twenty years, Air predate and exceed today’s overstuffed electronic music scene. From critically acclaimed 1998 debut Moon Safari and their soundtrack for Sophia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides, to twenty-first century releases such as Talkie Walkie, Pocket Symphony (QRO review), and Le voyage dans le lune (QRO review), the Versailles duo of Jean-Benoít Dunckel and Nicolas Godin have brought compelling sounds.

And now come compelling sights, with their ‘twentyears Air’ tour:

Sunday, 6/4/17 – New York City, NY @ The Governors Ball
Monday, 6/5/17 – Boston, MA @ Royale
Wednesday, 6/6/17 – Washington, D.C. @ Strathmore
Tuesday, 6/20/17 – Chicago, IL @ Auditorium Theatre
Friday, 6/23/17 – San Francisco, CA @ The Masonic
Saturday, 6/24/17 – Santa Barbara, CA @ Santa Barbara Bowl
Sunday, 6/25/17 – Los Angeles, CA @ The Greek Theatre
