STYLUS STAGE

Wild Beasts, 9:30 PM – 11:00 PM

From the Lake District is the dream-pop Wild Beasts, who are neither wild nor beastly.

Wild Beasts

Yuck, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM

A young band on the upswing in terms of hype, but one that deserves it, is Great Britain’s Yuck (QRO live review), who have the kind of skilled-yet-accessible punk (QRO photos at a festival) that’s worked so well for Sonic Youth (QRO live review) & Dinosaur Jr. (QRO live review).

Yuck

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, 6:15 PM – 7:30 PM

After the worldwide reunion tour of Pavement last year (QRO live review), singer/songwriter Stephen Malkmus has returned to his Jicks (QRO live review), including the festival circuit (QRO photos from a festival).  S.M. & The Jicks also returned to the studio with Mirror Traffic (QRO review), something of a return to his earlier solo work, after 2008’s jammier Real Emotional Trash (QRO review).  The new live set (QRO live review in 2011) favors Traffic (at least now people don’t ask them to play Pavement songs – QRO live review), such as great single "Senator" (QRO video), but there’s still room for an oldie like "1% of One" (QRO video), or even the brand-new "Independence St." (QRO video).

Summer Camp, 5:00 PM – 5:45 PM

Though they hail from England, Summer Camp (QRO photos at an English festival) channel the eighties of a suburb of Los Angeles on this year’s strong Welcome to Condale.

Summer Camp

Dutch Uncles, 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM

Manchester’s Dutch Uncles (QRO photos) are best known for using atypical time signatures with a pop context (QRO photos).

RILEY SMITH STAGE

The Big Pink, 10:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Two years ago, London electro-rock duo The Big Pink (QRO photos) made a very strong debut with A Brief History of Love (QRO review).  Their highly anticipated follow-up Future This comes out in January, so expect new material along with the Brief.

The Big Pink

The Antlers, 8:30 PM – 9:30 PM

The newest of the next wave of Brooklyn acts is The Antlers (QRO photos), who first blew people away (QRO live review) with epic concept album Hospice, then opened for the likes of Ra Ra Riot (QRO live review, opening for Ra Ra Riot), Editors (QRO album reviewQRO photos, opening for Editors) and The National (QRO spotlight onQRO photos, opening for The National).  But now they’ve graduated to headlining their own big gigs (QRO live review, outdoors & headlining), and are out with their new Burst Apart (QRO review), the follow-up to their critically acclaimed breakthrough debut, Hospice (QRO photos at a festival).

The Antlers

Vessels, 7:00 PM – 7:45 PM

Leeds post-rock outfit Vessels comes to Constellations behind this year’s sophomore LP, Helioscope.

Vessels

Givers, 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM

From down on the bayou in Lafayette, Louisiana, who have turned their state’s native Cajun & zydeco music into sweet indie-pop.

MINE STAGE

Three Trapped Tigers, 9:45 PM – 10:30 PM

The Mine Stage closes with the instrumental noise-rock of London’s Three Trapped Tigers.

Three Trapped Tigers

Ringo Deathstarr, 8:45 PM – 9:15 PM

Though they hail from Texas, Ringo Deathstarr have found more success in the U.K. (QRO live review in England), to the point of signing to a British label and even adding the ‘u’ to the title of their debut, Colour Trip (QRO review).

Ringo Deathstarr

Vondelpark, 7:45 PM – 8:15 PM

From Surrey come the ghostly, expressive, hurting sounds of Vondelpark.

Vondelpark

Braids, 6:45 PM – 7:15 PM

For a band that turned a chance opening slot for Deerhunter (QRO live review) into a standing ovation and demands of an encore from the band, Braids (QRO photos) is most definitely deserving of the "force to be reckoned with" status that critics seem so eager to give them (QRO photos).  What’s more, after a Polaris Prize shortlisting in Canada, and a record deal with Chad VanGaalen (QRO album review)’s Flemish Eye label, the band has only picked up steam (QRO photos).
