Joe Russo
Gary Clark Jr., 8:00 PM – 9:29 PM

Austin’s Gary Clark Jr. (QRO photos at a festival in Austin) is the latest artist to be said to be ‘bringing blues back’ – when did it ever leave? And if it did, it’s surely come back many times since then (just look at Jack White…) – but Clark (QRO live review) is certainly keeping it going, like on Austin City Limits (QRO live review on ACL) and festivals (QRO photos at a festival).

Main Stage

Trey Anastasio Band, 9:30 PM – 12:29 AM

If you’re going to LOCKN’, you already know who Trey Anastasio is. If Phish (QRO photos at LOCKN’ ‘16) has made themselves into the next generation Grateful Dead, then Anastasio is the next generation Jerry Garcia. He’s done everything from play above the marquee at the Ed Sullivan Theater to get a Tony nomination for his orchestration of Broadway musical Hands on a Hardbody. Anastasio (QRO photos at a festival) comes to LOCKN’ (QRO photos at a recent festival).

Doing two sets, the second will feature Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Derek Trucks.
Trey Anastasio
The Revivalists, 8:00 PM – 9:29 PM

New Orleans seven-piece Americana rock band The Revivalists (QRO photos at a festival) were in 2016 named one of Rolling Stone’s “10 Bands You Need To Know,” and come back to LOCKN’ (QRO photos at LOCKN’ ’17QRO photos at LOCKN’ ’14) behind last year’s Take Good Care.
The Revivalists
Old Crow Medicine Show, 6:45 PM – 7:59 PM

One of the most authentic acts in this current hipster-fueled Americana revival has been Old Crow Medicine Show (QRO photos at a festival), who’ve done everything from the Big Easy Express Tour with Mumford & Sons and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros (the documentary of which won a Grammy – QRO screening review) to appear numerous times on A Prairie Home Companion – and, oh yeah, they had a platinum hit single “Wagon Wheel”.
Old Crow Medicine Show
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, 5:15 PM – 6:44 PM

Catch the Baltimore funk of Pigeons Playing Ping Pong (QRO photos), road warriors who do something like 200 shows a year, as they return to LOCKN’ for a second year in a row (QRO photos at LOCKN’ 18), this time playing with Cory Wong.
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong
Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, 4:15 PM – 5:14 PM

Back in the eighties, when jam was undergoing its metamorphosis from original heyday to today’s modern version, Edie Brickell & New Bohemians had a massive hit in “What I Am”. Brickell left the band to marry none other than Paul Simon, but has returned to music in more recent times, from teaming up with her stepson as The Heavy Circles (QRO album review) to reviving the New Bohemians, with last year’s Rocket.
Edie Brickell & New Bohemians
Melvin Seals & JGB, 2:45 PM – 4:14 PM

The long-running pianist for the Jerry Garcia Band, after Garcia’s death, Melvin Seals kept the spirit going with JGC, and returns to LOCKN’ (QRO photos at LOCKN’ ‘15), this time with John Kadlecik.

Galactic, 12:30 AM – 2:45 AM

Hailing from New Orleans, Galactic (QRO photos at a festival) is a five-man funk band. They combine traditional jazz with brass-heavy funk that’s much like the city’s signature sound. Thrown into the mix are their cutting edge, ‘new school’ horns and the regional hip-hop known as New Orleans Bounce. Galactic (QRO photos at a festival) succeeds in producing a sound that’s entirely new while still paying homage to the style that made the Big Easy famous. They return to LOCKN’ (QRO photos at LOCKN’ ’16).

Jason Isbell
moe., 6:30 PM – 7:44 PM

One of the most-established acts on the jam festival circuit has to be moe (QRO photos at a festival). They came up in the nineties with other neo-hippie bands (instead of ‘Dead Heads’, moe. has ‘moe.rons’…), and have kept on going for thirty years now.

St. Paul & The Broken Bones, 5:30 PM – 6:29 PM

From Birmingham, Alabama, St. Paul & The Broken Bones (QRO photos at a recent festival) bring the true southern soul. They come back to LOCKN’ (QRO photos at LOCKN’ ‘15) after 2016’s Sea of Noise (QRO review) and last year’s Young Sick Camelia (QRO review).
St. Paul & The Broken Bones
Steel Pulse, 4:15 PM – 5:29 PM

You can’t have a jam festival without a legendary reggae act, and LOCKN’ got a great one in Steel Pulse (QRO photos at a festival) – the Birmingham, U.K. act was the first non-Jamaican group to ever win ‘Best Reggae Album’ Grammy. And for LOCKN’, they’re playing with fellow Sunday performers The Soul Rebels (see below).
Steel Pulse
Nahko & Medicine For the People, 3:15 PM – 4:14 PM

“They embrace Bob Marley’s idea of world-‐ bridging, bringing people together to resolve differences. For us, music is a tool to create healing and activate people to change things.” Nahko & Medicine for the People (QRO photos at a festival) expands this sensibility onstage. The band has toured with SOJA, and internationally with Xavier Rudd, and performed at festivals across the globe (QRO photos at a festival).
