Saxon Tour Preview

British heavy metal giants Saxon will be back on the road in the UK in April and May with a spring in their step and a renewed swagger to their legendary sound as they tour in support of their new studio album – their twentieth – Sacrifice.

The album has been hailed as a return to form with a heavier and bluesier sound than its predecessors, one that evokes memories of their early classics like Wheels of Steel and Denim & Leather.

According to founder and frontman Biff Byford their motto for this album has been  “Less tricks, more power! Before going into the studio Byford urged his bandmates to be raw, be real and not be afraid to look back at the old classic material for inspiration, and the results speak for themselves. The album boasts ten of the strongest Saxon tracks for many a long year – all infused with that special Saxon snarl and ferocity that made them the toast of the new wave of British metal.

And the tour promises more of the same – with the band summoning up the heavy metal spirits of the early 80’s and playing a selection of crowd pleasers from their vast back catalogue as well as newer material and featuring support from The Quireboys.
