The Knoxville, TN-based Cool Runnings is making a bid, via Kickstarter (clock is ticking!!!), to have their album Dracula Is Only The Beginning pressed on vinyl. The album is a glorious post punk, new wave collection of songs that I’ve listened to so much by way of a free Bandcamp download that it would be criminal to not own the real, physical record. Not only that — I’ve got to shout it out so others can hopefully jump on the bandwagon and grab a piece of the action for themselves. Check out the Kickstarter link below….

I’ve got two songs featured here, "Burnout" and the title track "Dracula Is Only The Beginning." The former starts tense & quiet before blowing up into a spacey, synth-orchestral ballad. The latter is an oddball pop number that mixes a lot of conventional rock elements — guitar licks, drums, vocals — together in surprising ways. The percussion stands out especially; like Hooray For Earth, Cool Runnings cultivates its percussive elements beyond the usual snare/hat formulas to build out extra depth into their pop songs.

Stream the whole enchilada at Bandcamp & say hi on Twitter & get yourself the vinyl album and more at the Kickstarter.
