Philadelphia’s Creepoid deals out a vintage Mazzy Star performance in "Dream Out," a sleepy rock lullaby that builds up winsome guitar licks into a white-hot crescendo. Hope Sandoval would have been proud. Elsewhere on the latest LP Horse Heaven Creepoid serves up mid-fi mantric drone-rock, cryptic lyrical presentiments (see "Spirit Birds"), and shoe-gazey he/she duets: all the makings of a post-Velvet Underground rock ‘n’ roll seance.
