The San Diego-based DUDES have just dropped a free EP called Narcissists Anonymous, which includes a fully-playable RPG in the Bandcamp download. Crazy, right? I’ve played a little of the game — all the characters talk about DUDES while the main character wanders around a fantasy land in search of the rest of the band members, or something like that. I’m not a huge RPG guy, but I had to give it a spin just to see how far they took it. Pretty far.
The music? A dense, lo fi post-Animal Collective electronica that occasionally seques into more straightforward chillwave-y jams. Elite Gymnastics vibes. Not exactly reinventing the wheel, but these guys definitely have creative energy to spare.
