Minneapolis’ Elite Gymnastics just dropped two EPs, Ruin 1 and Ruin 2. Airy ambient textures share space with clubby beats, with 80s vox-style cameos. The rub here is mood, and Elite Gymnastics sets a stone-cold mood that will drop you 5 feet into a valium-flavored k-hole. Yum.
I’ll never forget these guys at the Halloween show QRO and Cream Team put on in Chicago. The first Gymnast hunched over a soundboard while the second Gymnast brandished a tumbler of bourbon and croon-waved into the microphone over an endless tide of beats and synth. Pretty fucking Elite.
