Fang Island, straight outta Rhode Island (or is it Brooklyn? they list both locales on Facebook, which usually means they live in the non-Brooklyn locale, couchsurf with friends occasionally in Williamsburg, and just want the "Brooklyn Bump," similar to the Colbert Bump, but just more raw dawg indie — or else the band could be legit split between NYC and New England, a la Hooray For Earth…bottom line: this mystery can’t be decided without 30-40 seconds more google searching. And that, my friend, is just not effin happening) splits the difference between rock textures and electro stylings.
There’s a little AnCo here, a little Yeasayer, a little 70s prog rock: there’s a whole lotta shrimps on that bar-b. The band is on Sargent House, which has a keen eye for ensembles with both the pops & the chops, so the free album they’ve got streaming on Bandcamp comes highly recommended.
Stream a pair of tracks below & stream the album on Bandcamp & buy the album here & hit em up on Facebook & Twitter & their own fancy interwebz site — remember: only YOU can prevent forest fires!
