Belfast’s Girls Names second album, The New Life, is due out in February (18th on Tough Love (UK) and 26th on Slumberland (US)). Today, you can get another taste of their forthcoming LP with “Pittura Infamante”. Perhaps you were already hooked on their lo-fi surf rock tinged Brit pop of Dead To Me. While the Irish quartet’s current sound is a considerable departure from their debut, it’s no less (if not more) impressive. Along with the two previously released tracks from The New Life, “Hypnotic Regression” and the title track, on “Pittura Infamante”, you can hear a band with a self-assured identity while reverencing their predecessors – a darker, grander opulence without the pretension.
