Inspired and the Sleep are back, dropping a second single off their forthcoming LP Teenager. MMMP3s wrote up the first single, the title track "Teenager," and we dug the breezy, rhythm-laden island flavor.
The new track "Running" builds on that same rhythm-first sensibility for a bright & brisk bongo-core pop ditty. A lot of bands these days turn to the excess percussion to bulk out otherwise thin live performances. Drums never fail to excite. It’s basically just a dude beating on something — that’s drums. But when you turn around & listen to the recorded material, a lot of bands jettison the extra percussion because it was just a crutch. Not so with Inspired and the Sleep — percussion is the lifeblood of "Running" and you can probably expect more of the same on the new album.
