Local H - "Innocents (Edited For Television)”

Local H - "Innocents (Edited For Television)”Scott Lucas scathes the opening line joyously, “Innocence, you wanna bleed again, alright / In a sense of being freed again, that’s fine,” even as a smooth, almost folky guitar line chills the listener to begin the new Local H single, “Innocents (Edited For Television)”, released May 6th, 2018.

This new track is a very alternative, very sentimental, and very loud at times philosophical anthem for American angst over personal struggles, but perhaps more aptly, the impoverished working class.

While there were inklings of this on Hey, Killer and even way earlier on Twelve Angry Months, this song seems most reminiscent of As Good As Dead or Pack Up The Cats. This is an inspired alt-rock, not the fine, but limited, The Goo Goo Dolls or Third Eye Blind.

“Innocents” might be described as Jackson Brown meets Local H instruments in a non-alcoholic bar. There are amazing drums, especially in the chorus and solo by Ryan harding, and a great alt energy in the guitar intro, but the lyrics are where it’s at. With interesting metaphors for social games in, “They wrote you off of the show / But it’s not like you would know,” and most importantly, “Innocence you wanna bleed again / In a sense, you’re free again tonight.” Everyone should hope for more alternative rock like “Innocents (Edited For Television)” from all bands in the genre and especially any new Local H.
