The Portland-based Parenthetical Girls have a little holiday cheer to spread. Christmas, to be exact. That’s right. No pussy footing around the hegemonic discourse issue, no perfunctory nod to Hannukah or Kwanzaa. Just straight up "Christ was born" shit.

One thing Christmas music has going for it, over and above other winter holiday music, is the jingle-jangle of sleigh bells. It’s a really under-utilized sound, and, since it’s so heavily associated with Santa’s sleigh, bands usually break out the sleigh bells only once a year. Bummer, dude. They sound great on "Post-Christmas Time." Bands should re-appropriate those bells for the rest of the year. Fuck Christmas, gimme da bells!
