This Clevelend jazz/punk squall Puffy Areolas rocks like the undercarriage of an old school steam engine, huffing and puffing, blowing wild 3 chord sequences in wild 3 minute kamikaze tracks. I saw them (photos) live at this summer’s Blackout Fest — instead of setting up on the riser, the entire band plunked themselves at the foot of the stage. Just about a hair’s breadth distance from a curious Chicago crowd that didn’t know what to make of these guys. Puffy Areolas attack like a hardcore band, blow like cosmic-transcendental zonko period Coltrane, and set shit on fire. What more can you ask for?

The Midwestern Masters of Mayhem (not to be confused with the Arbiters of Excessive Alliteration) have a new 7" coming out, sporting the tracks "Gentleman’s Grip" & "Psychomania" & "By The Hand." Real strong MC5 meets On The Corner Miles Davis meets Yamatsuka Eye vibes.

Stream the first two tracks below, hit ’em up on Facebook, and watch for the 7" release h’yah. Enjoy!
