This is the sort of buzz pop band that sounds so ruthlessly catchy, you figure they’ve been bred overnight in a test tube by some major label. But no, the Black Tambourines have been puttering about in the UK long enough to record two earlier EPs at least, Hombre and a S/T release. A quick listen reveals little-to-no musical evolution or development (with the possible exception of a 20% gazey decrease) over that span. That’s cool — it’s a short span, and when you’ve nailed the pop formula, why fix what ain’t broke?

One area where the new EP Chica definitely does improve is production quality. These songs are quick, fast, stick to your brain, and pop like nothing you’ve heard from the Black Tambourines before.

Head over to Bandcamp to stream the new EP (dload one free track too) & hit Soundcloud for the old EPs & Fuzzbook their asses & figure out how to buy the EP at Art Is Hard Records. Peace!
