The Happy Thoughts sound like the kind of band you could bring home to your mother, minus the "Sweet Dirty Love" business. Seriously though, there’s a wide-eyed pop-affection at work here that makes this song off their upcoming self-titled album a pretty sweet listen. You could see the Happy Thoughts playing in some dusty roadhouse in the movie Footloose, with Kevin Bacon trying to teach his slightly stiff, whiter-than-white peers how to bust a move. A distinctly 80s sheen — watch for shades of Tom Petty on this track, the nasal tones, the highway-strum of an electric guitar stretching for miles and miles over a landscape of raw teenage eros.

In other HoZac news, the label is putting on the massive BLACKOUT Fest in Chicago 5/26-5/28. The Happy Thoughts is playing, so black out with them!
