QRO is pleased to report that Boston-based garage gods and haiku masters Thick Shakes have their first 7" coming out on Aurora 7 records, tentatively titled Why Buy The Cow due sometime in the spring. We’ve been a fan of the jangly, fuzzed-out foursome since they released Ooh Mommy a while back. It was a raucous ruckus squeezed into 20 minutes of fun. Why Buy The Cow dishes out more of what we love from Thick Shakes- the vintage moods, textures- and boasts the super-infectious single "Go Back to New York", which is going straight on my short list for track of the year. Check out & download the entire release on their Bandcamp, catch up with them on Facebook, say hi on Twitter, and stalk them on their own site for some vids and show dates.

And don’t forget to enter the Super Moster Haiku Throwdown. All entrants will receive a mixtape including tracks from Girlfriends, Christians & Lions, and Thick Shakes, and one lucky haiku master will take home the grand prize package courtesy of Floating Garbage Continent!
