Weather Balloons — jesus fucking christ, I feel like we’re back in the 90s. This is lo fi, low rent Sebadoh-style indie rock that is just nuts & bolts garage-y mayhem with a warm bass line holding down the feedback-fricaseed guitar & vox. The Brooklyn-based foursome just sort of rocks it out, with some nice throwback, amped-up, drone-backed pop jingles. Kind of a Clap Your Hands Say Yeah vibe, minus the Alec Ounsworth vocal hyperbole.

"Sunday Brave" brings the piercing feedback background and pop sensibility; "It Doesn’t Happen To You" is a scratchy basement number that sounds like it was written by the non-Lou Sebadoh guys. You know, Gaffney or Lowenstein, or whatever they were called. I dug those tunes — usually more frantic punk ditties compared to the teenie weenie love songs that Lou was writing during the Bakesale era.
