Scored a boatload of vinyl online from Hozac Records including Smith Westerns, K-Hole, Spider Fever, and the gem of a band featured here, Xray Eyeballs. I’m waiting for the mailman everyday, but until he shows up, I’ll content myself with a little post on "Crystal". The song lobs an off-balance, medium-tempo suckerpunch to your eardrum, with snarly, gnarly, 60s surf city, garage-pop textures that hurl the listener into the dance party crescendo moment of every Rodney Dangerfield movie rolled into one.
That’s the good news. The great news is that you can catch Xray Eyeballs, and a slew of other Hozac artists at SXSW. Check out the blonde-sploitation poster below: it’s free, but if you show in daisy-dukes bottoms and bikini tops you get in free-er.
