Cut Copy : In Ghost ColoursThis Aussie dance-rock outfit is poised to take over summer ’08 with utterly intoxicating grooves. From top to bottom, Cut Copy’s second album, In Ghost Colours is easily some of the finest party music of the year.  Not only that, but the slick jams fit nicely into headphones as well.

At fifteen tracks, it’s plenty of bang for your buck as each track is deeply dimensional and gorgeously produced.  Starting with the glowing shuffle of “Feel the Love” that mixes acoustic guitar and swirling effects at a galloping pace, In Ghost Colours is tremendously easy-going while it offers so much energy.  “Lights and Music” is a dance-floor gem while “Unforgettable Season” has an 80’s pop vibe without any of the embarrassing cheese.  “So Haunted” mixes starkly sour guitars into a rock vibe that takes off on a quick-paced rhythm and driving into a glam-happy chorus.  “Hearts On Fire”, “Far Away”, and “Nobody Lost, Nobody Found” are similarly upbeat and infectious while, on the other hand, “Strangers In The Wind” and “Eternity For One Night” feature calmer, smoother washes of electronics.

With electronic rock master Tim Goldsworthy in the studio with them, Cut Copy had all they help they could need.  80’s-borne synthesizers fill the gaps of up-tempo rock tracks deftly, making In Ghost Colours a perfect blend of a trendy vibe and nonchalance.  It’s not only packed with single-worthy material, but a cunningly relaxed atmosphere that makes it essential, especially for the upcoming summer.
