The Go Find : Brand New LoveIndietronica, laptop-created tunes from your bedroom, has risen & fallen & risen again, with new iterations like chillwave, but someone who’s been doing it for a long time now is Belgium’s Dieter Sermeus (QRO interview), as The Go Find.  He’s gone big on early albums like Miami and Stars On the Wall (QRO review), catchy with 2010’s Everybody Knows It’s Going To Happen Only Not Tonight (QRO review), and now sad and intimate in Brand New Love.

From opener “Jungle Heart” on, Love is a low-key record, but an effective one.  Sermeus’ soft-spoken nature on tracks like “Jungle” and single “We Run” (QRO review) touch all the more for the songs’ reduced nature.  Sermeus can also do the chillwave wash (“Your Heart”), brighter wist (“We Promised Together”), and even get relaxed (“Summer Boys”).  By the time of the slow wave goodbye closer “The River”, Sermeus has taken you on a journey without leaving your room or going to eleven.

Like all Go Find releases, Brand New Love is not one for crowds in da club, but for solo listeners in their bedrooms, meditating on life, love, loss, and more.
