Carnivores Tour : Live

Locked with some of the biggest names in modern day rock, The Carnivores Tour consisting of the powerhouses of AFI, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Linkin Park arrived in Houston on Friday, September 5th to play a packed crowd at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

AFI

Davey HavokAFI kicked things off with a bang as the band launched into their opening track “The Leaving Song Pt. II”, which would set the tone for the rest of their high energy set. All fan favorites including “Girls Not Grey”, “Miss Murder” and “Love Like Winter” were played.

By the end of the second song, frontman Davey Havok was already playing to the crowd as he made his way to the pit. While guitarist Jade Puget and bassist Hunter Bargan followed suit as they began to soaring across the stage, drummer Adam Carson found himself with a smile on his face as he began laying into each song with ease.

Thirty Seconds to Mars

Jared LetoNext up was the planet of Thirty Seconds to Mars with its beautiful leader Jared Leto. Waving a wide variety of symbolic flags, the Leto made his way to the stage dressed head-to-toe in holy attire, followed closely by his own flesh-and-drummer Shannon Leto and guitarist Matt Wachter. The screams could be heard for miles away as the band began to start the beginning of their space themed “Party”, including confetti and life sized balloons.

The band broke their set list down into a thirteen-part act featuring eight full band song’s followed by a three-song acoustic, in-crowd performance by Leto, and ending on a Pantera “Cowboy’s From Hell” jam followed by “Closer To the Edge”.

Linkin Park

The sun had finally set upon Cynthia Woods as the headliners Linkin Park began to close out the show. If you know anything about Linkin Park it’s that their stage setup is constantly changing, and this tour was no different. Accompanied by a wall of beautiful, reversible and ever-changing led screens, band members Mike Shinoda, Chester Bennington, Dave Farrell, Rob Bourdon, Brad Delson and Joe Hahn made their way to the stage.

The band left no time to waste as they soared into their first song and current mainstream rock smash “Guilty All the Same”, followed closely by “Given Up” and “With You”. The fans held tight as they began to ride the Linkin Park train from albums like Hybrid Theory and Meteora all the way to their current release The Hunting Party, and even some Collision Course teases in between.

Chester BenningtonThe band was on point and the crowd as enthralled as everyone began to realize exactly why Linkin Park has been a household name for the past fifteen years of modern rock. The band, though seeming humbled by their success, had not forgotten about their many organizations including the LPU, Music For Relief, and even acknowledging some service men and women throughout the night. Ending on “Bleed It Out” the band exited the stage as the crowd continued to roar for minutes on end.

The Carnivores tour continues onto its west coast leg, ending on September 19th in Concord, CA. Be sure to catch all these amazing acts before it’s too late!
