Jay Som : Live

Jay Som played to a jam-packed Bowery Ballroom (QRO venue review) on Thursday, September 21st with support from Soccer Mommy and Stef Chura.

Soccer Mommy

Soccer Mommy kicked off the night with their encapsulating sounds. The project of Sophie Allison from Nashville, it is quite the show to experience. Allison and her band, though young in age, project a maturity and wisdom that is absolutely enthralling. The show was filled with catchy sounds and lyrics that really make you think. The group played songs off their debut LP like “Try” and “Allison”.

Stef Chura

Stef Chura then took the stage with her band, and brought the mood to a more dramatic arena. Chura has a signature howl in her music that is incredibly unique and grabs the immediate attention of the audience. Her performance is natural and passionate – quite a beautiful and entertaining set to watch.

Jay Som

And finally, San Francisco native Jay Som took the stage with her diverse, lush pop sounds. Jay Som and her group put on a show full of excitement and emotion. It’s easy to see they truly pour into their music and are presenting their raw selves to the audience. The show consisted of songs from their latest album Everybody Works, as well as old favorites like “I Think You’re Alright”. Jay Som is definitely on the up and up – with no end in sight. I’m excited to see what she does next.
