Little Kids Rock 2015

Rocker of the Year Award – Steve MillerLittle Kids Rock held its annual awards show and benefit on Tuesday, October 20th at Grand Ballroom (QRO venue review) in New York. Award recipients included ‘Rocker of the Year’ Steve Miller, Humanitarian Award recipient Graham Nash, and ‘Big Man of the Year’ Paul Shaffer. Award presenters included Little Kids Rock founder and CEO David Wish, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band saxophone player (and nephew to the original ‘Big Man’) Jake Clemons, and late night icon David Letterman. In a surprise appearance, Letterman came out and told a story about how Shaffer’s parents gave Letterman the first instrument they ever gave their son – a toy Hohner harmonica when he was three or four.  Letterman presented it to Shaffer. Performers included Shaffer, Kristin Maldonado of Pentatonix, and Little Kids Rock students from Jersey City.

Since 2002, Little Kids Rock teachers have served more than 400,000 children in 29 cities.

Their teachers run the largest instrumental and vocal music program in the U.S. public school system today, and now, they are leading a movement not only to restore, but to revitalize music education for our kids, ensuring that every kid has the opportunity to unlock his/her inner music maker.
