Northside 2013 - Day One Recap

Northside 2013 : Day One Recap

Ever since 2009, L Magazine has held the Northside Festival in June at a series of venues in Williamsburg & Greenpoint in Brooklyn – and QRO has been there every year.  2013 was no different, with locals and out-of-towners crisscrossing the north side of the borough, Thursday-to-Sunday, June 13th-16th.

While Ted Chase was off getting wet at Prospect Park Bandshell (QRO venue review) for Grouplove (QRO review), Donald Lee knew that it’s not Northside without two things – MiniBoone & Spike Hill (QRO venue review), and made sure to catch one at the other on the first day of Northside.

Other notes:

-For 2013, Northside expanded to a NExT Expo at McCarren Park (sponsored by Red Bull) – right next to where you picked up your badges & drink tent (sponsored by Heineken).

Unfortunately missed:

-Rest of the Ernest Jenning/Paper Garden showcase: Conveyor (QRO photos), ARMS (QRO album review), and The City & Horses @ Spike Hill.

-Ivan & Alyosha (QRO photos) @ Europa (QRO venue review).  If only because Ivan & Alyosha bravely made their show, despite their van being stolen.

-A Place To Bury Strangers (QRO spotlight on) @ Music Hall of Williamsburg (QRO venue review).
