RatatatMix some heart wrenching bass, an over driven guitar and a brilliant light show, and you’ll have Ratatat. The infamous Brooklyn rocktronica duo made their triumph return to Houston on Thursday, September 24th, playing for the first time since their last date at The Meridian in 2009. This time, the group entered the legendary Warehouse Live in the heart of downtown, playing a most memorable sold out performance.

Since there last visit, Ratatat have released a new album entitled Magnifique (QRO review). With five albums at hand, the band went through the list as old classics such as “Wild Cat” & “Loud Pipes” were played, as well as new songs such as the greatly received single “Cream on Chrome”.Ratatat

Whether the casual listener or the hardcore fan, the seminal duo put forth effort to have everyone on there feet. With funky chord progressions from lead guitarist Mike Stroud and heavy bass playing of E*Vax, Houston found it hard to not let loose. Although some may say dull at times, what lacked in stage presence was made up for with an otherworldly laser show that only the technologies of NASA were thought to of had.

Overall, it was a captivating performance that had the crowd in a trance of colorful lights and ear tickling guitar tones. From note to note, a pleasing experience for even the mildest of listeners. Ratatat picks back up on their world tour Oct 27th at The Electric Ballroom in London.
