World-renowned for their uniquely fascinating sound and stage presence, Sigur Ros recently played the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston in support of their new album, Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust.  It was a cool, early fall night filled with the crispness of the band's ultra-organic sounds and the mesmerizing strain of singer Jonsi Birgisson's trademark voice.

They pulled from a wide array of their catalog, starting with the old, familiar, sonar-inspired "Svefn-G-Englar" from Agaetis Byrjun.  "Ny Batteri" from the same album was not long afterwards right before the powerful, chiming romp of "Við spilum endalaust".  The new material was as enchanting as anything they've ever played, especially when Jonsi beckoned the whole crowd to stand and sing during "Með Blóðnasir".  "Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur" was also effortlessly engaging before the band ended the main part of their set with the brilliant shuffle, "Gobbledigook", during which confetti rained over the audience.   

The band came out for a quick, two-song encore of the mellow, acoustic "Illgresi" and the slow burner, "Popplagið".  It was a relaxing end to a beautiful rollercoaster of the most scenic rock music in the world.  Once again, Sigur Ros gorgeously brought the perception of Iceland's natural beauty to Boston with a feet-sweeping performance.
