Alex Lahey : The Best of Luck ClubTwo years ago, Australia’s Alex Lahey put out the phenomenal debut I Love You Like a Brother (QRO review), which was so fun & catchy that pretty much everyone who heard it, loved it – and her. How does she follow that up? By expanding her emotion, without losing her core charm on The Best of Luck Club.

First things first, Lahey has not lost her great wry humor, and that can be seen from the get-go in opener “I Don’t Get Invited To Parties Anymore”. But her attitude doesn’t put the listener at a distance, but rather connects on songs like “Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself” and “Isabella”. And Lahey also shows some sonic growth in the emotion of “Am I Doing Right?” and sweeter “I Need To Move On”.

Second time ‘round, Alex Lahey obviously can’t surprise like she had before, but The Best of Luck Club is a great follow-up for a great artist we’re going to see more great things from in the future.
