I first heard a single called "Honey Eye Bee Leave Ewe" from this North Carolina-based band Alligator Indian. Poppy, enjoyable, reverb-drenched retro sugar — I pegged them for a Cults-type experience, but wanted to hear more.

Alligator Indian just released their new EP (LP? at six tracks, it would push LP territory, except they’re all pretty short ditties) Football, which has about as much to do with pigskin as Hockey the band has to do with pucks & ice. The album opens up in a lot of interesting ways beyond the Cults-worshippers I figured them for. In particular, they press hard on the heavy synths in a few parts that gives Football a spacier, more massive sound than your average polite ’60s pop throwback session.

Apparently the record is available on lime green vinyl, which is pretty effin’ awesome. Grab it via Bleeding Gold Records or download the digital version at Bandcamp (nah, just get the vinyl) & stalk Alligator Indian at Tumblr & Facebook & Twitter. Cheers!
