ARW are the surname initials for three Yes alumni, original singer Jon Anderson, guitarist Trevor Rabin, and extraordinary keyboardist Rick Wakeman. ARW have united and are embarking on a world tour that runs through spring 2017.
Yes, the most successful prog-rock group of all time, founded by Jon Anderson and the late Chris Squire, based their sound on vocal harmonies and jazzy constructions. Anderson’s vocals were as distinct and unmistakable as those of prog colleague Geddy Lee of Rush. Yes were also arty, incorporating art rock and symphonic sounds into their music and using flowing record cover art from Roger Dean for many years. In the 1970s, Yes music couldn’t be missed on the radio. Anderson’s vocals and the band’s unique sound created the hits “Roundabout”, “Long Distance Runaround”, “Yours is no Disgrace”, “And You and I”, ”I’ve Seen All Good People”, “Wondrous Stories”, and “Starship Trooper”. Monster hits “Owner of a Lonely Heart” and “Leave It” followed in the ‘80s.
Here’s who else will be playing with AWR on tour: Lee Pomeroy on bass, Louis Molino III on drums, and Gary Cambria, multi-instrumentalist (an essential role to perform Yes music).
Lee Pomeroy, an award-winning composer and producer and in-demand session musician, has played live with Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Take That, Steve Hackett and Rick Wakeman. “I have played with arguably the three greatest bass players ever, Chris Squire, John Entwistle, and Lee Pomeroy!” Says Rick Wakeman, “I can’t wait to play with him again!”
Louis Molino III on drums, originally from Philadelphia, is a L.A. based studio and touring drummer. Molino has recorded and/or toured with Trevor Rabin, Julian Lennon, Kim Mitchell, Kenny Loggins, Roger Hodgson, and The Tubes.
Gary Cambra has been the keyboardist, guitarist, and producer for one of rock music’s most notorious acts, The Tubes, for 20 years. He’s toured with or been a session musician for Stephen Bishop and Jefferson Starship, and produced and helped in the development of many acts in San Francisco and L.A.
