The historic Basilica Hudson along the riverfront in Hudson, New York, welcomes a specially curated line-up of high art acts and more, Friday & Saturday, September 12th & 13th:
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th
International ambient artist Tim Hecker comes to Basilica Soundscape.
Los Angeles’ Julia Holter (QRO photos) recorded two albums intimately in her bedroom, but her latest, last year’s Loud City Song, was done with an ensemble of musicians, including Nite Jewel.
|Richard Reed Parry
You will all recognize Richard Reed Parry (QRO photos at a festival) as the flame-haired wild man in one of the most successful alternative bands in the world, the one-and-only Arcade Fire (QRO live review). But the multi-instrumentalist has worked in a multiple of bands, like Montreal neo-orchestra Bell Orchestre (QRO album review), Kronos Quartet, Islands, even the also mega-successful National (QRO spotlight on). He brings his auteur side to the auteur Basilica Soundscape.
Gamelan Dharma Swara
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th
An influential act that’s been a regular at the recent Primavera Sounds across the Atlantic in Iberia in both Barcelona (QRO photos at 2013 Barcelona Primavera Sound) and Oporto (QRO photos at 2013 Optimus Primavera Sound) is New York’s post-punk pioneers Swans (QRO live review). Fronted Michael Gira (QRO solo photos), Swans land in Toronto behind this year’s To Be Kind and 2012’s The Seer (QRO review).
Deafheaven (QRO photos at a festival) expand on the black metal sound with elements of post-metal and even shoegaze.
Vancouver’s White Lung (QRO photos at a festival) bring some punk rock to Basilica Soundscape (QRO photos at a festival).
