Canabliss : Q&A

While at Electric Zoo in New York City, Samantha Infusini, a.k.a. Canabliss, took a moment to talk with QRO. In the conversation, Infusini discussed the festival, influences, road trips, motivational music & more…

QRO: Are there any motivational tracks that set you up mentally before a set?

Samantha Infusini: Both Tame Impala and MGMT give off super good vibes. They get me into a positive mindset.

QRO: Highlight of this year’s Electric Zoo?

SI: From my first day perspective, the venue is beautiful and well run. I am excited to be here and experience it all.

QRO: If you took a road trip and had to choose a few tracks to get you through the journey, what are you are listening to?

SI: Definitely some dark techno – not only does it make the travel go by quickly, but it also keeps me awake.

QRO: Who are your biggest musical influences?

SI: Ivy Lab is one major influence and there are so many underground artists to name. Searching through Soundcloud and listening to their work is what inspires me.

QRO: Any advice for those who are starting out in the DJ scene?

SI: Definitely have fun and don’t be too hard on yourself when learning. With the resources of YouTube and the Internet, make whatever you want to make. Learn a little bit of everything and find your style.

QRO: What’s your favorite place to play in your hometown?

SI: In Toronto, it was The Hoxton – a super fun venue that will be missed.

QRO: Overall, do you have a favorite track that you play at festivals/venues?

SI: This DnB track by Quix called “HUHHH (VIP)” gets the crowd going within my recent sets. It has a good flow as well as a good build up.
