Probably Tuesday night's premiere showcase, Bowery Ballroom starts off CMJ with a line-up of great bands young (Most Serene Republic, Voxtrot) and old (Dean & Britta, The Rosebuds), all starting with the band Land of Talk's Lizzie Powell is "obsessed with" (QRO interview).

And it's located in what looks to be the nexus of CMJ, south of East Houston, east of Bowery.  There's a ton of CMJ venues located right around there (look for the *), making it easy to hit up multiple venues in a night.
