It's a Musical : The Music Makes Me SickBands on the Morr label seem to always have some mastery of electronics, and in this case, It’s a Musical effortlessly blends digital effects with smooth, low-key pop tunes.  On The Music Makes Me Sick, the Berlin duo mixes piano-based ballads with subtle synths and sunny brass and the result is a softly colorful set of uplifting tracks.

Throughout The Music Makes Me Sick is a gentle ’70s California pop vibe that is unstoppably grin-inducing.  Tracks like the shimmering “Lazy” and “Dudu” provide the shiniest side of the album, while the catchy “Ball of Joy”and “Bad Day” are on the darker, yet still whimsical, edge.  The title track and “You Make Me Real” are prime examples of just how easily the album seems to skate by on a ultra-smooth surface.

Yet another nifty addition to the Morr Catalog, It’s a Musical’s The Music Makes Me Sick is a calming blend of beachy pop vibes, understated charm, and modern electronics.  It’s friendly and warm, and never comes on too strong:  everything a pop album should be.
