Kiwi Jr. : Football MoneyThese days, it can be hard to relax and have a good time, as even play is “hard” in the adage, “Work Hard. Play Hard.” But for those of you who are still young enough to have a good time, or just want to be, check out the relaxed party of Canada’s Kiwi Jr. on their debut, Football Money.

Songs like the sunny, rambling opener “Murder In the Cathedral” and swinging indie-pop of “Salary Man” bring to mind early Pavement, always a good name-check, when there was nothing to prove and everything to cheer. Smiling kiss-off “Leslie” even veers towards early Vampire Weekend, all college-age fun and not too-soon-to-be-serious big-name later years. Yes, Kiwi Jr. meanders and jangles without a firm goal in mind; but the journey is more than half the fun.

If you want a break from the kind of world where you ‘need’ to see this, and ‘need’ to listen to this, and want to have as much fun as you’re up for, check out Football Money.
