This year marked the debut of Las Rageous, a two-day music festival that took over two square blocks in downtown Las Vegas on Friday, April 21st and Saturday, April 22nd.

The festival was put on by Live Nation Las Vegas, in the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. Located right next to several casinos resorts and hotels, there was no need to drive, fight traffic, or worry about parking. The festival entrance was a simple stroll across the street from world-class casinos and resorts.

Amanda Moore of Live Nation explained, “Bringing an annual rock festival to this city has been a dream ever since we opened the Live Nation Las Vegas office. Rock and metal music have a rich history here in Sin City; from the bands it has fostered, to its wild and loyal fans, to KOMP – one of the oldest and most respected rock stations in the country.”

Live Nation is no stranger to the live music world, or the festival circuit. Live Nation has put on great festivals such as Sasquatch!, Austin City Limits (QRO 2016 recap), and Lollapalooza (QRO 2016 recap). So when it came to Las Rageous, no item was left spared and their experience showed in so many important ways. Air-conditioned bathrooms for all patrons, plenty of food and drink vendors so lines were minimal, friendly staff and security, and most impressive – visible and helpful staff at the entrance to answer questions before you even entered into the festival gates.

The location of the festival, just off Las Vegas Boulevard at Third and Carson Streets, took over two city blocks of the historic downtown area. Besides convenient for those staying in hotels and casinos, it was also perfect to provide shade for festival patrons and the bands. The tall casinos and hotels shielded the venue from the late afternoon desert sun.

The festival proved to be a hit among locals and those seeking a travel destination festival. Meeting festivalgoers from across the country proved that Las Rageous not only quickly gained national attention, but also stands out among other festivals offered around the country. The number of patrons in attendance felt strong, but with numbers capped at 10,000 attendees, the festival grounds did not feel too cramped.

I also must extend my props to the sound crew and engineers. Las Rageous had some of the crispest and clearest sound. From the pit, all the way to the back of the venue, even outside the festival, the quality of sound was fantastic. The festival grounds were laid out to optimize the experience and the stages had great sight lines from every angle.

Las Rageous had it all. An amazing inaugural lineup, distinct location for locals and those traveling, top shelf accommodations, food and drink, and a promoter known across the globe for nailing all the details. Las Rageous hit it out of the park in the first year, and you can bet it’ll be back next year with more hard hitting rock-n-roll in Sin City.
