Love Amongst Ruin : Lose Your WayAfter being unceremoniously let go as drummer for Placebo in 2007, Steve Hewitt started his own project as Love Amongst Ruin with his 2010 self-titled debut. Now he returns with Lose Your Way, a wide and connecting record.

The driving alt-rock of opener/title track and “Swan Killer” is not experimental or unfamiliar, and nor is the involving emotions of such intimate pieces as “Modern War Song” or closer “Oh God”. However, Hewitt does both styles very well (which is better depends on which style you like more), and hooks the listener without just resorting to hooks.

With the strange and outlandish being what’s normally rewarded in the media today (see: Donald Trump’s presidential campaign), Lose Your Way nicely delivers what you already like, and makes more of it.
