Balkan Bump, who is Will Magid, a newer, part trumpeter, part beats engineer, is always, energetic, but also often trying for more than a good hook, which can hurt the tracks. The Aymo Remixes, unlike the original Aymo, and thanks to the help of many others, actually achieve more than a good hook.
The original Aymo is an Asian and Balkan influenced dance rhythm, but the “Poldoore Remix” is a blistering track, which sounds like it came from Blade Runner. These remixes not only achieve an overachievers dream, the Will Magid jazz style in general, but with the help of many others (see Russ Liquid, Kotek, Poldoore or Talib Kweli), create techno dream rap. All of the remixes are good but as usual the “Kotek Remix” stands out. Sidecar Tommy adds more of a trumpet accentuation to his version, and the “Russ Liquid Remix” shines as the most ambient and Balkan sounding. Atmosphere fans meet Gramatik fans, and now shake hands, or play trumpet.
