ate Stables of This Is The Kit combines the compositional craft of Joanna Newsom with the boldface punch of a K Records starlet in their heyday. Mix in Liz Phair-meets-Suzanne Vega vocals, and you have a lot of heads turning at her recent release Wriggle Out The Restless. An upcoming UK tour should cement the attention the artist has already received from the press on the ground (claiming an entirely respectable 9/10 from an earlier Drowned In Sound review), as the prize remixes keep rolling in.
QRO is pleased to offer an early stream of “See Here” (Jim Barr remix). The original was a sweet gem of swayrock, with interludes of soft brass and rangy downstrokes. Jim Barr, of Portishead , delivers the trip-hop treatment, milking out the ambience with trembling copper accents and glowing synth lines. Watch for tour dates in the UK , and for the album release in October!
