The title track off Julian Lynch’s new album Terra crafts a dreamy vision of a world cobbled together out of acoustic strums, saxo-ma-phone, spacey synth, harmonica, and a host of percussive elements identified as "world music" to everyone except ethnomusicologists who know better. Sounds like a clutter, but in Lynch’s hands the composition unwinds as naturally as a leaf floating down a gentle stream.

Quiet, contemplative, with impressionistic turns that are held back from the edge of total abstraction by Julian Lynch’s evident love for the basics of pop form. Terra is a mood album that you may not always be in the mood to hear, but when the moon is in the third house and Ares is descending under the Seven Sisters constellation, there’s nothing I like to listen to more.

The album is available via Underwater Peoples. Hear more at Bandcamp and say hi to the Wisconsin native on Twatter too!
