I was ready to write off Mixel Pixel as another smooth-sounding indie-tronica act, a genre that has experienced a glut of sorts since MGMT hit it so big with those 4 note synth hooks. But then I stumbled across "Cropcircles", a track of such unrelenting weirdness that it forced me to sit down and give the album Highschool Is Not Hell the close listen it deserved. It’s a gorgeous record that might take more than a single sitting before it hits you. But when it hits you, it hits you good.

"Cropcircles" starts out like your average indie-tronic number, then spews out some surreal, stream-of-consciousness, paranoid rap around the 1:15 mark. Real Mellow Gold type shit. Solid. Download the full album here gratis.
