Ravens & Chimes - Past Lives

I’ve seen New York’s Ravens & Chimes twice, but both times were at CMJ, which is never the best opportunity to judge a band – especially a New York band.  However, they were strong both times, first time reminding me of Bishop Allen (QRO spotlight on), the second time Savoir Adore (QRO live review), two other New York bands with light-but-strong harmonies, male-female vocals, and accomplished but not overdone instrumentation.

Just got a leak of their newest single, “Past Lives” (thanks to big name indie-photog/Ravens & Chimes manager Kyle Dean Reinford), and it keeps up the band’s sweet sounds, in a particularly more soaring style.  Steam it below, and download it here (you can also get their latest single, “Division Street, on their website):

The band just played Glasslands, and they’ve got some upcoming NYC gigs – don’t wait until CMJ 2011!:

2/2/11 – Pianos w/ ARMS
2/24/11 – Cameo
3/22/11 – Pianos w/ The Lines
