First heard of Starfucker (also STRFKR) via righteous San Francisco-based blogger Indie Rock Girl of the OCMD (Obsessive Compulsive Music Disorder). Their songs are instant party-starters, danceable electronic squiggles and ticks, peppered with rock n roll textures. Kind of Passion Pit-west, minus the helium-drenched nasally vocals.

Before their new album LP, I had only heard this band as a collection of singles, so I’m glad to finally sit down and enjoy Reptilians in one sustained, unbroken listen. The band really benefits from the long listen. The early singles I heard were poppy, dance-manic classics; Reptilians delivers on a more cumulative effect, a broader arc, that transports into a more fleshed out musical landscape of aetheral vocals, tapered beats, and future cyber-siblings with red dots on their cheeks (see right).

Here’s a link to the ‘info’ tab of their Facebook…it lists all their interwebz joints. Plus, download some free tracks off the new LP at the Bandcamp .

Stream the track "Astoria". It’s the jam!
