Here’s another great Chicago band, Outer Minds, that I got a chance to see during the SXSW Send-Off party at the Hideout. The track below "Bloodshot Eyes" hews towards the bubblegum garage end of the spectrum with a healthy dose of ’60s pop hooks and sing-along refrains. When I saw them live, I noticed a heavier rock n roll flavor — they can tear it up at the lower registers when the mood hits them — but "Bloodshot Eyes" (despite the track title) keeps it fairly easy & breezy. You can find this track and more on their 7" out on HoZac records here.
In other HoZac news, the label is putting on the massive BLACKOUT fest in Chicago 5/26-5/28. Outer Minds is playing, so catch ’em live!
