On his second album, David Vandervelde conjures a mix of country and polished ballads that flow with even more easy-going charm than his debut.  Waiting For The Sunrise is as close to the long-haired Americana of the seventies as you can get today.

The album’s feel-good folk vibe is so strong that it’s a near-perfect escape from modern agitation.  The toe-tapping smoothness of the opener "I Will Be Fine" and the rolling romp, "California Breezes", that follows both recall simpler times and places where priorities are healing and relaxation.  "Someone Like You" is a bobbing gem that soars on some gospel inspiration through a distant, front-porch acoustic jam.  Throughout Waiting For The Sunrise are stress-releasing, otherworldly ballads that seem concerned only with personal well-being and positivity.

Part singer-songwriter, part Americana idealist, David Vandervelde does an impressive job of presenting his vastly organic rock. Waiting For The Sunrise possesses freedom, refreshing honesty and above all else, transports the listener out of any modernity-induced rut.  It’s surely a trip worth taking every once in a while.
