Erika Wennerstrom : Sweet UnknownHeartless Bastards was always the vehicle for singer/songwriter Erika Wennerstrom, but now she has gone fully solo. Long since past her original blues-rock roots for more country-twang, her strongest & weakest sides are on display with Sweet Unknown.

Sweet certainly starts sweet, with the country-rock wise relax of “Twisted Highway”, and Wennerstrom is at her best when she’s churning out hooks in the country-sway “Letting Go” and catchier gallop “Time”. But then the record starts to slow down, and while Wennerstrom can produce good, long, slow music, it can really feel stretched out. “Good To Be Alone” is over ten minutes of slow rock, while closer “Gravity” takes the slow finish to its extreme – despite being only nine tracks, the record is almost an hour long.

Erika Wennerstrom has been reaching & exploring for years now, and Sweet Unknown continues her journey.
