Everything sucks today, and we could really use some of the more relaxed, cheerier indie-rock of yore, back when the biggest problem was Oval Office marital infidelity (and not mass pandemic death & rigged elections). Bringing more of that is more, the Los Angeles duo of Malcolm McRae and KanEverything sucks today, and we could really use some of the more relaxed, cheerier indie-rock of yoree Ritchotte, on their debut 1/2 EP.
Doing this best on the extended play is single “Elaborate Intentions” (QRO review), which has that kind of meandering SoCal alt-charm that the nineties had in spades. Other songs include the quiet-to-strings “Settled In” and the more sweeping smile of “The Way”.
At just five songs, 1/2 is an appetizer & introduction, not a main meal, but there is a follow-up coming in October. So, there will be more more.
