Sia : We Are Born Sia Furler sings like pop music is going out of style.  Soaring with a soulfulness seldom seen in the genre, she slams spunk and superior song craft together for a satiating sonorous stew.

The sudden splurge of shininess on snappy singles "Clap Your Hands" and "Bring Night" is surprising coming from the songstress of sulk who gained prominence via Six Feet Under‘s use of her sublime "Breathe Me".  Remember… "Help, I have done it again / I have been here many times before / Hurt myself again today / And, the worst part is there’s no-one else to blame."  Sia’s struggles succumb to sunnier sensations on "The Fight".  "We made it through the darkness to the light / Uh huh we fought / But still we won the fight / Oh yes, we stand together."

Still several more shades of Sia’s silk-lined throat are shared; sumptuous disco diva ("You’ve Changed"), sassy school girl gone The Go-Go’s ("Stop Trying"), sultry R&B chartreuse ("Be Good to Me") and the searching, stalker-inclined lover ("Never Gonna Leave Me").  "Now I’m taking your love from above / You’re never gonna leave me / I will carry you on for so long / Your love is never gonna leave me."

During the second half of the album, a storm "Cloud" rolls in.  Sia sounds like someone slipped her a Mickey and she begins to slur.  The somber Sia re-surfaces and her spirit is subdued ("I’m in Here").  "Can’t you hear my call? /Are you coming to get me now? / I’ve been waiting for / You to come rescue me / I need you to hold / All of the sadness I can not."  Surely as We Are Born, Sia slides back into the songwriter with which fans supplant their sorrows.
