The Danish duo weaves a difficult mesh of calm and violence on their jagged-edged third album. Slow echoes and a rugged, vibrating guitar highlight Lust Lust Lust along with Sharin Foo’s disenchanted vocals where Motown meets the Old West.

The album begins with the grinding "Aly, Walk With Me", featuring Sune Rose Wagner’s semi-industrial drums and the metallic fuzz of his guitar.  Foo’s voice and bass coast along before Wagner’s guitar goes into full distortion mode.  From here, Lust Lust Lust continues on a themes of laid-back rage and dangerous fun.  "Lust" has a cold-blooded vibe while "Dead Sound" is a zombie-fied beach party.  "Black Satin" is more of their black-and-white 60’s pop sound and "Expelled From Love" is a down-trodden march through a melancholic sock hop.

While The Raveonettes’ sound becomes more signature, it becomes more one-dimensional in its unique experimentation with a throwback sound.  It’s an unfriendly sound as the duo seems trapped inside their art, but remains a well-crafted ride through the choppy waters they’ve created.
